Faith Through Practice: Growth Of Faith Through Experience
"Genuine service given from the heart for God's holy Cause and for humanity is certain to bring blessings. The greatest blessing is the faith that increases.
Sometimes an individual has a special experience while giving service. He is suddenly inspired with a wonderful wisdom and because of this some difficult problem is solved.
In order to become more aware of God, instead of relying on theories about Him we should be sincerely giving of ourselves in service for His Cause. It is true that we can come to decide whether or not there is a God through study, but we cannot realize the full glory of faith in this way alone. It can only be grasped through experience."
Soul-Cleansing: Steadfast Faith Through Problems
"When people speak of receiving divine blessings, they usually refer to recoveries from illness, prosperity in business, or other material gains. These are blessings, it is true, but there are less obvious ones that appear to be completely the opposite. For instance, some individuals may experience illnesses or failures, which are outwardly negative events but turn out to be great blessings from God in reality.
If individuals seek only material gains, they cannot consider themselves true believers. But if they trust God, He gives them special training so their natures may be improved and strengthened, and so they become truly happy individuals, blessed by living in an environment of paradise on earth. For this purpose, God does sometimes give them material blessings and makes them comfortable, but at other times He causes them to experience difficulties and discomforts. Both are for training and growth of their spiritual beings.
It is not when we are blessed with all good things and are happy that we can best grow in spiritual awareness, but rather when we are confronted with such major problems we do not know what to do about them. This is the time when we can make the most rapid spiritual advancement and can be forged into better, greater human beings."
