Thank you to Priscilla, Johnny, Chiara, Surinder, Jessica J., Everett, and Trivina for participating in Tai Chi 2018 @ Cedar! Thanks to Carlene, Lazlo, Sergei, Serene, Jamie, Derrick, Dawn, Alan, Susan, and Vida and Nicky for expressing an interest in celebrating World Tai Chi Day 2018 @ Cedar by reading this special one time newsletter!
I have practiced martial arts from 12 to 31, from capoeira to tae kwon do but I hold a special place in my heart for Tai Chi Chuan, which means Grand Ultimate Fist, which is a peaceful way to stimulate our brain and soul and body to find balance and have self defense. Capoeira comes from Brazil and Tae Kwon Do comes from Korea, but Tai Chi Chuan comes from China.
World Tai Chi Day happens in more than eighty countries since 1999. It was actually started by the Kansas City Tai Chi Club in 1998! It is a world wide movement facilitating friendship and wisdom from Chinese culture, and it is a movement of world peace that comes across from people all over the world practicing Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong, which means Energy Work, at parks and campuses and homes and gatherings where inner peace is fostered, and good energy shared between practitioners in a healthy, healing, positive way.
The benefits of regular Tai Chi Chuan meditation in motion (I try to do it after breakfast and before dinner, twice a day at sunrise and sunset would be ideal) has these positive qualities: relieves burnout, improves quality of sleep, reduction of stress, enhanced positive energy levels, enhanced productivity and better focus, prevailing sense of peace and joy, helps give relief from chronic diseases such as diabetes, migraines or headaches, asthma, hypertension, allergies, anxiety, depression, leads to better concentration, better balance, potential reduced back pain, gastrointestinal problems, insomnia, some thyroid problems, better lung capacities, as noticed by meditation practitioners Swami Sadhguru of Inner Engineering and Dahn Yoga of Seusing Neem Ilchi Lee, who both espouse meditation for life betterment and inner peace that starts with you.
It will through years of practice bring you clarity, health, joy, better stretch, healing in bones, elasticity in joints and tendons, healing in body and mind, healing in calmness.
Women and men trying to understand each other's spaces, be good to each other, do good and be good to themselves, and make our communities happier, safer, healthier, and cleaner when a positive movement such as World Tai Chi Day 2018 @ Cedar is celebrated. Inner peace also starts with you, but thank you for participating in World Tai Chi Day 2018 @ Cedar with me! It is my honor to share the little that I know, thanks to Masters Lees of Torrance, all three of them, and Master Liang and Master Wu's 24 Forms Simplified from print and from video. Xie Xie! :)
